The Latitude App

The Latitude App was a new mobile experience for the largest non-bank financial services company in Australia. Latitude was originally the Australian subsidiary of GE Capital specialising in white label consumer credit and retail finance.

In 2015, Latitude spun off as an independent company with the challenge of consolidating all white label products under a single parent brand.

The goal of this project was to build the first Latitude mobile app that unifies all independently branded products into a single self-service platform for their customers.

With the many different product offerings, also came many product complexities that caused much confusion and misunderstanding amongst the products’ customers.

Solution
Working together with an amazing team of researchers, UX designers and engineers, I set out to consolidate a mish-mash of over 12 differently branded products to create a cohesive visual language and experience that was Latitude at its core.

I approached this project with the mindset of “managing your financial services doesn’t have to be boring”. Using graphical, visual and animation aids, combined with a carefully considered information hierarchy; allows users to focus on what is most important. This has helped Latitude’s customers understand and manage their finances more optimally and take necessary actions whenever needed.

The Latitude App is designed with future-proofing in mind. To accommodate for Latitude’s ever growing and evolving brand portfolio.

The result is an app that has maintained an average 4.7 star rating across both the Apple App Store and Google Play for 3 years and counting.

The Latitude App was a 2019 Webby Award Honoree in Best Visual Design – Function. This award is for apps, mobile sites, and progressive web apps that set an industry standard of excellence by relying on visual design as a critical part of a functional user experience.
