In conjunction with Nike Cortez’s 40th anniversary, Nike asked my team and I to create a Cortez 40/40 logo for Malaysia to commemorate the special occasion and to be used on all their marketing promotional materials leading up to a very special birthday event in Kuala Lumpur.
Solution
The Cortez 40/40 KL logo was designed to be bold, yet clean to reflect the retro styling of the iconic Cortez silhouette which was regarded as a big, bold step in Nike’s entry into the athletic market at the time. Hints of the iconic Kuala Lumpur skyline were incorporated to further reflect the iconic cult status that the sneaker has achieved.
We also created an EDM that was sent out to the media and KL’s key opinion leaders to attend the big birthday bash.
