Blue Ribbon Campaign

The Blue Ribbon Campaign was launched in 2007 by the Rainbow of Life Forces, a non-governmental initiative in support of childhood cancer. They wanted to develop a website that would be used to dispense information about this deadly disease and as a means for affected families to get in touch with them for support.

Solution
It takes a great amount of patience and love to care for a child affected by this horrible disease. The Blue Ribbon Campaign website was 100% handmade out of felt to represent this level of attention and served as an online ‘garden of inspiration’ that allowed users to convey their own messages of hope to affected children. A handmade felt flower would be planted virtually in the garden with every message left by a user. This ‘handmade’ garden grew infinitely on its own with user-generated content, thus encouraging higher traffic flow and more support to this cause.

Blue Ribbon Campaign website won a 2008 Silver W3 Award in the Children category and Silver Davey Award in the Charitable Organisation category. The W3 Awards and Davey Awards are part of the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts.
